When and why did you open your store?
In 1945, the Greater Newcastle Co-operative Permanent Building and Investment Society was formed as an alternative to the big banks and to give people a better chance of owning their own home. Fast forward 75 years and our name has changed to Greater Bank, but our mission hasn’t - we’re still helping our customers and communities grow.

This year we’re celebrating 75 years of building a brighter future – helping our customers and communities grow greater together. With the right people, we strive to give our customers more control of their finances, making your banking easier and helping you reach your goals.

We’ve got some big plans coming up to celebrate with you all, and we remain committed to helping you make the most of your money, continuing to support those who support us and growing a strong, sustainable future for us all.

What’s your favourite thing about your job?
It's so fulfilling to help our customers achieve their financial goals; whether that be purchasing their first home, saving for an around the world trip, or opening their first bank account. It's a special feeling to be an integral part of their journey and to witness their joy on achieving their goals.

What would you like to say to the customers who have continued to support your business?
Thank you for your patience and ongoing support throughout these ever changing and unpredictable times. And an even bigger thank you for the laughter that you bring; you make such a difference to our to our days.

What do you love most about Wallsend Village/the local community?
Greater Bank enjoys supporting events in the local community such as the Wallsend Winter Fair, which allows us the opportunity to build positive relationships with residents and businesses of the local community.
